Avoiding Storms

There is a popular story about a farmer that thought he knew better than God about the weather. He asked God permission to control the weather around his farm.

He though if he can have the perfect conditions all year round, his crop will be successful.

The story goes on, where God allows him to control the weather around his farm.

The farmer then, when he needed water, he said "rain" and it rained. "Sunlight" he uttered the word it was available to him.

Then harvest time came, he was so disappointed. His crop was a failure. Unable to understand he then asked God, what went wrong? He told God, "I avoid all bad weather, droughts, high winds, and storms? You did something to fail me, right?

God, patiently, respond: "I did nothing, but you forgot one thing. When I am in charge, I sent a fierce wind or two towards the grains. So, that they feel threatened and dig deeper with their roots. That's what you forgot to do."

The storms in our lives force us to dig deeper on our Trust in God. Our Trust in God (faith) grows stronger when that trust is tested.

I good friend gave me this song when I was going through a hard storm in my life few years ago.

Cover Me by Mark Condon

Peace of God, cover me

Cover me, cover me

Peace of God, cover me...

Through the storm, cover me

Peace of God, cover me

Cover me, cover me

Peace of God, cover me...

Through the storm, cover me

Only in you

Only in you I am safe

I am safe in you

Only in you I'm secure

Only in you, lord

Only in you I find peace

So cover me, cover me

Only in you, lord

Only in you I am safe

I am safe today

Only in you I'm secure

I'm secure, oh lord

Only in you I find peace

So cover me, cover me

Cover me when I am hurting

Cover me when I'm not strong

Cover me when I am going through

The storm!

Cover me when all seems hopeless

Cover me when my faith is gone

Let the peace that passes all I understand

Cover me when I am hurting

Cover me when I'm not strong…

.

It bring peace to my heart.

Then when I found myself in another storm, probably the hardest I ever going through, I listening to this song repeatedly.

It bring peace to my heart again.

Joshua is not with me, I am hurting, I am not strong. I cry every night, some times during the day.

However, my faith in God is still strong. - "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." John 6:68

We cannot avoid the storms in life. We do not like going through them, but the storms God sent to our lives help us to grow our Trust in Him, our dependence on Him.

They help us to see how small we are in comparison to the God of the Universe. - "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts". Isaiah 55:9

They help us to see how fragile our lives are and how needy we are of God's daily grace, patience, forgiveness, and help.

I trust God and I trust His Word. He said in his Word, that I am going to see Joshua again, I believe Him.- John :11:25-26, Isaiah 26:19, 1 Corinthians 15:50-53, Philippians 3:21, Job 19:25-26, Psalm 16:9-11, Daniel 12:2, 13 .........

He said in His Word, He will be with me when I feel alone, I believe Him. - Joshua:1:9

He said in His Word, He cares for me and everything He allows to happen in my life is to produce something good in me, I believe Him. -Romans 8:28

I DON NOT UNDERSTAND. I AM CONFUSED. I DON’T KNOW WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP. BUT I TRUST HIM. – Proverbs 3:5-6

In my devotional today:

"I AM THE ROCK that is higher than you and your circumstance. I am your Rock in whom you can take refuge - any time, any place. Come to Me, beloved; rest in the Peace of My Presence. Take a break from trying to figure out everything out. Admit that many, many things are beyond your understanding - and your control. My ways and thoughts are higher than yours, as the heavens are higher than the earth."

"Only in You I am safe, only in You I am secure, only in You I find peace.... So cover me when I am going through the storm!"

"If you are in one of those dark nights when the rain came and you did not expect it, let me remind you that the final chapter has not been written yet. God knows the end from the beginning, and one day the story will be complete." - Taken from David Jeremiah - The farmers prayers story -

My Journey

Trust Me! He said

We see God as a loving father holding us as premature babies, protecting us from the sorrows of this imperfect world. We see God as a loving parent, hugging His crying toddler, that cries because he can't understand why things happens the way they are. He hurts with us on our time of grief, and He carries us when we can't walk anymore.
